Indonesia publishes regulations on health supplement registration standards and advertising

  According to the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) legal database update, BPOM recently published the "Regulations on the Regulation of Advertising of Traditional Drugs, Quasi-Drugs and Health Supplements" and "Health Supplement Registration Standards and Procedures".

Among them, the Regulations on the Supervision of Advertising of Traditional Drugs, Quasi-Drugs and Health Supplements stipulate the regulatory requirements for the advertising of traditional drugs, quasi-drugs and health supplements, including advertising standards, language, advertising media, advertising approval process, evaluation, advertising supervision procedures, administrative punishment measures, etc. The regulations will come into effect on December 23, 2022.

The "Health Supplement Registration Standards and Procedures" stipulates that the health supplement registration standards include product safety, efficacy and quality requirements, and labeling requirements; It stipulates the registration procedure requirements for products produced in Indonesia, imported products and products used for export. The new regulation repeals the 2020 Standards and Procedures for the Registration of Health Supplements, and the previously applied circulation permit remains in effect for a transitional period of 2 years. The regulations will take effect on December 26, 2022.
