Trichoderma asperellum TCS007 in Marine habitat can be developed as a new biological pesticide
In order to study the effects of Trichoderma asperellum TCS007 on plant growth promotion and induced stress resistance in Marine habitats, the Collaborative Innovation Center of Green Pesticide 2011 of Zhejiang A&F University used cucumber and paddy as test materials to evaluate the effects of strain TCS007 on plant seed germination, seedling and root growth, as well as the contents of chlorophyll, soluble sugar and protein. Under low temperature and high salt stress, the effects on plant growth related physiological indexes were studied.
The results showed that 1×106CFU/mL TCS007 spore suspension could significantly promote cucumber seed germination, and the plant weight, leaf area, root fresh weight and root activity of cucumber seedlings were increased by 13.53%, 17.97%, 66.67% and 27.30%, respectively. The contents of total chlorophyll, soluble sugar and soluble protein were increased by 22.75%, 18.24% and 8.60%, respectively. At 5℃, 10℃, and 15℃, 1×106CFU/mL TCS007 spore suspension significantly increased the activities of SOD and POD, and decreased the REC and MDA content in cucumber leaves. Under the stress of 0.1 mol/L sodium chloride (high salt), different contents of spore suspension of TCS007 could significantly alleviate the salt damage effect of sodium chloride on rice seedlings, and with the increase of spore content, the relief effect was more obvious. The activities of SOD, CAT and POD were significantly increased and REC was decreased in rice seedlings supplemented with 5% 1×106CFU/mL TCS007 spore suspension.
In conclusion, Trichoderma asperellum TCS007 can promote growth and induce stress resistance in plants, and the results can provide theoretical basis for its development as a new biopesticide.
As of January 4, 2022, no Trichoderma asperellum products have been registered in China as pesticides.
