Brazilian beauty giant Natura seeks to expand in the Chinese market

ECHEMI 2020-08-24

The CEO of Brazilian beauty product maker Natura&Co Holding SA said the company is looking to increase its business in China. The company acquired Avon earlier this year.

"China has huge potential and is a real opportunity for the group," CEO Roberto de Oliveira Marques said in an interview. The company owns the Natura, Body Shop and Aesop brands. The company is currently negotiating with relevant authorities in Shanghai, seeking to expand its footprint without conducting animal experiments. China requires certain products not to conduct cosmetic experiments on animals.

The Sao Paulo-based company was founded in 1969 and currently sells the Body Shop and Aesop products in China through the online shopping platform Tmall. Avon recently reformulated some products to avoid animal experiments in the world's second largest economy.
