ECHEMI 2023-01-17

India's Nayara Energy Company announced that its new 450000 t/a polypropylene (PP) plant is expected to start operation from October to December 2023. The location of the new PP plant is adjacent to the company's existing refinery in Vadinar, Gujarat, western India, with a capital expenditure of about 750 million US dollars.

Nayara Energy said: "The new PP plant is part of the company's vision of transforming and revitalizing the Vardinar refinery and will build the plant into a world-class comprehensive refinery and petrochemical complex." It is reported that the petrochemical complex of Nayara Energy is being developed in stages. The first phase of the project includes the PP plant, the propylene recovery unit, and the transformation and upgrading of the existing catalytic cracking (FCC) unit. The company added that the modified FCC unit had been put into use on December 20, 2022, and the company expected to start the pre-commissioning of the propylene recovery unit in February this year.

The refinery of Nayara Energy Company in Vadinar, Gujarat, is the second largest refinery in India, with an annual capacity of 20 million tons, accounting for about 8% of India's total refining capacity.
