LyondellBasell licenses PP and HDPE production technology to Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical
LyondellBasell announced on the 12th that it will authorize Inner Mongolia Rongxin Co., Ltd. to use its Spheripol and Hostalen ACP process technology to produce PP and HDPE in the newly built factory.
China's Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical will build a 500,000-ton-per-year polypropylene (PP) plant and a 400,000-ton-per-year high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plant using LyondellBasell's Spheripol and Hostalen ACP process technologies.
Patrik Schneider, LyondellBasell's senior director of licensing, said Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical selected a process that can produce differentiated polyolefins, including durable goods and infrastructure materials, having the right technology can give operators an edge and competitiveness in a selective market environment.
Hu Yun, general manager of Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical, said: “Trust and confidence are a key consideration when selecting technology from the market leader in polyolefin technology. We are excited to implement this project and look forward to strengthening our partnership with LyondellBasell. "
Spheripol technology is a leading polypropylene (PP) processing technology with a licensed capacity of over 35 million tons. The latest fifth-generation Spheripol technology includes process improvements to further maximize operational efficiency. The polypropylene unit will begin operations using Avant ZN catalyst.
Hostalen ACP process technology produces high-performance, multimodal polyethylene (HDPE) resins with industry-leading stiffness/toughness balance, impact resistance, high stress crack resistance, and process advantages for pressure pipe, film and blow molding applications . The Hostalen ACP polyethylene unit will operate using Avant Z501 and Avant Z509-1 catalysts and produce a full range of multimodal polyethylene products.
