CDSCO's New Intelligence Cell to Check Illegal Activity in Pharma Sector
India’s central drug regulator, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), has set up a nine-member intelligence cell to track illegal activity in the country’s pharmaceutical sector. This includes gathering information on the medicines and cosmetics imported or exported against the law and investigating complaints related to medicine quality received from overseas regulatory agencies, according to an office order quoted in an Economic Times report.
The intelligence cell will be in charge of collecting and collating information on activities carried out in contravention to the provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, stated the order. It will also assist in raids in collaboration with zonal and sub-zonal offices.
