China's chemical raw materials and products manufacturing value added in August
China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released data on Sept. 15 showing that in August, the value added of industries above designated size actually increased by 5.6 percent year-on-year, up 1.02 percent from the previous month. Among them, the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry grew by 6.9% year-on-year.
Divided into three major categories, in August, the mining industry value-added growth of 1.6% year-on-year, down 2.6% in July; manufacturing growth of 6.0%, unchanged from July; electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply industry growth of 5.8%, accelerated by 4.1 percentage points.
By economic type, in August, state-controlled enterprises added value increased by 5.2%; joint-stock enterprises increased by 5.8%, foreign and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan business investment enterprises increased by 5.3%; private enterprises increased by 5.7%.
By industry, in August, 29 out of 41 major industries maintained year-on-year growth in value-added. Agricultural and sideline food processing industry decreased by 2.5%, textile industry increased by 3.3%, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry increased by 6.9%, non-metallic mineral products industry increased by 5.0%, ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry increased by 9.2%, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry increased by 4.8%, general equipment manufacturing industry increased by 10.9%, special equipment manufacturing industry increased by 8.0%, automobile manufacturing industry increased by 5.0%, and the value-added of the private sector increased by 5.8%. It grew by 14.8 percent, railway, ship, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing declined by 0.3 percent, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing increased by 15.1 percent, computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing increased by 8.7 percent, and electricity, heat production and supply increased by 5.9 percent.
By region, in August, the value added of the eastern region increased by 6.8%, the central region increased by 5.4%, the western region increased by 4.5%, and the northeast region increased by 6.6%.
By product, in August, 394 out of 612 products increased year-on-year. Steel 119.13 million tons, up 11.3%; cement 224.89 million tons, up 6.6%; ten non-ferrous metals 5.29 million tons, up 6.9%; ethylene 1.79 million tons, up 8.6%; 2.088 million vehicles, up 7.6%, of which 125,000 new energy vehicles, up 31.6%; power generation 723.8 billion kWh, up 6.8%; 59.47 million tons of crude oil processed, up 9.2 percent.
In August, industrial enterprises product sales rate of 98.2%, down 0.4 percentage points from the same month last year; industrial enterprises to achieve export delivery value of 104.52 billion yuan, a nominal increase of 1.2% year-on-year.
From January to August, the value added of industries above designated size increased by 0.4% year-on-year.
