Evonik Optimises PEEK Production at Chinese Facility
German speciality chemicals firm, Evonik, said it has comprehensively optimised the production process of its Vestakeep brand of PEEK (polyetheretherketone) and further improved the quality of the product at its Changchun, China, site.
The company said optimisation initiatives at the facility have led to reduction in energy requirements, material use, and waste generated during production and simultaneously boosted the productivity of the PEEK plant.
Thanks to their high heat and chemical resistance Vestakeep speciality polymers can replace metal components to allow, for example, sophisticated applications in lightweight construction.
“Our business with Vestakeep high-performance polymers has been showing strong and sustained growth over several years, for example in the automotive, aviation, oil, and gas industries or the medical sector,” says Dr. Ralf Düssel, head of the High Performance Polymers business line.
