Unilever teamed up with Google Cloud to develop sustainable palm oil
Recently, Unilever announced a new partnership with Google Cloud to use its technology to find solutions for sustainable palm oil.
As the first step of the cooperation, the two companies will work to use the first commercial applications of Google Cloud and Google Earth Engine for sustainable commodity procurement.
The goal of the two companies is to improve suppliers’ sustainable procurement standards by combining cloud computing, satellite imagery, and artificial intelligence, thereby establishing a more comprehensive view of forests, water cycles, and biodiversity that cover Unilever’s supply chain.
Google Cloud and Unilever will work with a wide range of technology partners to establish a centralized central command center and provide a more complete picture of the ecosystem related to Unilever's supply chain, which is conducive to the creation of a detection forest A better mechanism for logging.
Dave Ingram, Chief Procurement Officer of Unilever, said: “The cooperation with Google Cloud will take us to the next stage of sustainable procurement. We are now able to process and combine complex data sets to integrate sustainable development insights. Combining with our commercial purchasing information is an important step for us in transparency."
