AsahiGuard Fluoropolymers Help Paper Products Repel Water, Grease
AGC Chemicals Americas Inc. offers three water and grease repellents for paper, paperboard, molded fiber and packaging that are FDA approved for food contact. AsahiGuard E-SERIES AG-E060, AG-E070 and AG-E080 repellents impart outstanding oil, grease and water resistance for paper and molded pulp food service products such as fast-food wrappers, bags for microwave popcorn, pet food packaging, clamshells, bowls, sectioned trays and plates.
AsahiGuard E-SERIES repellents are broad-spectrum, water-based fluoropolymers that are based on short-chain C6 PFC chemistry that is friendlier to the environment and do not break down to form perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) or perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS). AGC converted to this sustainable technology in 2012, three years ahead of the EPA’s mandated schedule of the PFOA Stewardship Program. AG-E060, AG-E070 and AG-E080 repellents can be used on recyclable and compostable paper products.
In addition to having FDA approval, AsahiGuard E-SERIES products have approvals of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) in the EU and meet a standard in Food Sanitation Law in Japan. They are compliant with Japanese Chemical Substance Control Law (JCSCL), the U.S. Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH) in the EU.
