Sindh Eager to Benefit from CPEC, Says Murad Ali Shah

Sindh is eager to gain maximum benefit from China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as the revelation of the full plan for the corridor has boosted the interest of all stakeholders.

This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah while addressing the CPEC Summit and Expo 2018 being held in Karachi.

“Our leader Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto said in 1968 that the only country in the world that has the capability to assist Pakistan in development is China,” said the Sindh CM adding that this has been proved correct several times over the years and CPEC is yet another testament to Bhutto’s vision.

Sukkur, Hyderabad and Karachi have been declared as key cities in the CPEC project.

Sindh is the energy hub of Pakistan and the only province which has issued grants for renewable energy projects. Letters of intent form 35 companies have already been issued for the generation of 2,545 Megawatts of power.

“Thar Coal Mining is the flagship project of CPEC which is the game changer for the Pakistani economy,” he said adding that two more coal projects are in the pipeline.

$500 million solar power projects have been initiated by the Sindh Government while the Karachi Circular Railway, Dhabeji and Keti Bandar are key projects of CPEC in Karachi.

He said that energy and infrastructure projects are a lifeline for industries and the government is confident that industries will flourish as the gap is reduced.
