AkzoNobel's polyurethane coating factory opens in Pakistan
Recently, paint giant AkzoNobel opened its new factory in Faisalabad, Pakistan. As of the end of February, AkzoNobel's investment in the factory has reached 26 million euros, which is AkzoNobel's largest investment in Pakistan so far.
The 25-acre plant has facilities for the production of decorative coatings, wood finishes, automotive and specialty coatings, coil coatings and protective coatings and is designed to meet the growing needs of customers in the decorative coatings and B2B segments including construction, automotive refinishing, electronic components, furniture, household appliances, sports equipment, construction, power, infrastructure, etc.
Mubbasher Omar, CEO of AkzoNobel Pakistan, said, “This investment reaffirms our commitment to growth in Pakistan. This will fuel our ambition to diversify through sustainable innovation and enter new segments of the local market, while also providing new opportunities for customers outside Pakistan. "
The new plant produces polyurethane-based coatings for a variety of applications. According to AkzoNobel Pakistan: “AkzoNobel Pakistan has a long history of manufacturing high-quality polyurethane two-component coatings that are widely used in automotive (two-wheelers and four-wheelers) and various industrial sectors.”
Given that demand for paints and coatings is expected to grow in Pakistan, and considering that future expansion of production capacity at the Lahore plant is not possible, AkzoNobel will shift production to Faisalabad to accommodate future expansion of production.
