MRPL Commissions Solar Power Project
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL) has commissioned a solar power project with a total capacity of 6.063-MWp at its refinery site in Mangaluru. A press release by the company said that the solar power project is spread across 34 roof tops within the refinery premises. Built at a cost of Rs. 27-crore by Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd., the solar plant generates more than 24,000 units of power per day amounting to more than 8.8 million units per annum. The release said that this is resulting in an annual savings of approximately 2,680 tonnes of oil equivalent and reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of 7,000 tonnes. “This is a part of MRPL’s commitment to sustainable development with a focus on reduction in carbon emissions and renewable energy generation,” it added.
