Global natural rubber production and consumption will still decline from Sep
ANRPC's latest report said that from January to August 2020, global natural rubber production fell 8.7% year-on-year to 7.778 million tons, and the output is expected to fall by 3.8% in the four months from September to December.
The total global output of natural rubber for the whole year is expected to fall by 6.8% to 12.901 million tons, of which Thailand is down 7.7%, Indonesia is down 12.6%, Vietnam is down 4%, and Malaysia is down 13.9%.
From January to August, global natural rubber consumption decreased by 11.7% year-on-year to 8.151 million tons. In view of the recovery of economic activities in various countries and the faster-than-expected recovery of China's economy, consumption is expected to drop only 1.8% in the four months from September to December.
The total global natural rubber consumption for the whole year is expected to drop by 8.4% to 12.611 million tons, of which, China will drop by 8.9%, India by 19.3%, and Malaysia by 0.5%.
Broadly speaking, the price of natural rubber will further increase during September 2020, and the prices of natural rubber in different grades and different physical markets are different. Among various grades and markets, Bangkok FOB's RSS3 performed well during September 2020, with an average price of 13.8% higher than the previous month (August 2020), Bangkok FOB's STR20 rose by 5.9%, and Kuala Lumpur FOB's SMR20 It was up 4.7%, Kuala Lumpur’s latex was up 4.6%, and Kottayam’s RSS4 was up 3.5%.
