Acetic acid is approved in Canada for use as a crystallizer and detergent in the production of 2' -fucosyllactose

On February 27, 2023, Health Canada issued Document NOM/ADM-0197, amending the list of licensed food additives for Other Recognized Uses by approving acetic acid as a crystallizing agent and detergent in the production of 2' -fucosyl lactose (2'-FL).

It is understood that acetic acid is already permitted in Canada as a pH regulator or preservative in a variety of food products. The amendment will take effect from February 27, 2023.
