Ashland launches cosmetic preservative enhancer, derived from raspberry
Recently, Ashland announced the launch of Phyteq ™ Raspberry, a multifunctional preservative enhancer to protect cosmetics from deterioration.
Phyteq™ Raspberry is a globally recognized, biodegradable, multifunctional additive, based on a compound found in different plants, and this compound has been used in traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic rituals for hundreds of years.
Phyteq™ Raspberry has two variants: Phyteq Raspberry N (natural) and Phyteq Raspberry I (same properties).
Phyteq™ Raspberry further promotes Ashland's plant-inspired "pure beauty" innovation. Ashland's global marketing manager Andrea Wingenfeld said that the ingredient will be widely popular in formulas, because more and more consumers like to see natural-inspired ingredients on their products. This ingredient is easily biodegradable and compliant on a global scale, and the efficacy of raspberry has been well marketed.
This ingredient can act as a strong antioxidant and free radical scavenger, providing excellent performance in skin care and helping to protect the elasticity of the skin.
According to Karine Deruddre, Ashland’s Global Skin Care Applications Manager, “Phyteq™ Raspberry is very suitable for global skin care formulations because it helps reduce the level of approved preservatives or antibacterial agents, thereby reducing harmful effects.”
"The technology that combines antibacterial enhancement technology with skin efficacy and has good biodegradation characteristics is a good solution for cosmetic formulators, especially when acidic conditions are not required."
