Britain considers banning solid urea
British government recentThe ly launched a consultation activity to solicit opinions on reducing ammonia emissions from solid urea fertilizers used for planting and crops. Measures under consideration include a total ban on solid urea. The consultation will last for 12 weeks and will end on January 26, 2021.
In addition to a total ban on the use of solid Urea, the consultation also proposed two alternatives:
One is to add UREASE inhibitors to stabilize solid urea fertilizers and help slow down the conversion of urea to AMMONIUM;
The second is to limit the use period of solid urea fertilizer so that it can only be used from January 15 to March 31 each year. The British government estimates that by 2030, banning the use of solid urea fertilizers will achieve 31% of the ammonia reduction target.
