Basf has launched its newRevyona® fungicide in Spain, which is based on Mefentrifluconazole

2023-04-07

Basf has launched a new fungicide, Revyona® (75g/L Mefentrifluconazole), for use on grape andfruit crops in Spain. European legislation on the renewaland registration of active substances and phytosanitary products is becoming increasingly stringent. In this situation, many active substances are not renewed and it is increasingly difficult to register new ingredients, leading to a reduction in the availability of European agricultural solutions.

Basf is focused onproviding new solutions that meet the strictest regulatory standards, includingRevysol®, a new triazole product, many of which have yet to be updated to themarket. "Revysol® blocks fungusproduction of ergosterol, which damages cell membranes, increases the strengthof triazoles and minimizes their vulnerability," said Lidia Paredes, headof Spanish and Fruit grape crops at BASF. "Its flexible molecules areperfect for getting into any pathogen, even against triazole-resistant strains."

In Spain, Revysol®, launched under the Revyona® product name,is approved for use on grape and fruit crops with the high efficiency andfavorable regulations required by farmers.

Basf highlighted the new microbicide'sversatility, effectiveness and favorable regulatory profile. Revysol® is currently registered inmultiple countries for a wide variety of crops, covering a wide range ofdisease control. Innovation and development is anongoing process and research is now being extended to new crops and diseases

In addition, compared to other triazoleproducts used in fruit trees and vineyards, this product is highly effectiveeven in areas that are resistant to triazole. With many studies of mutatedstrains of powdery mildew in vineyards, as well as brown spot affected mutatedstrains in apple crops and Revyona®, BASF notes that the product is not lesseffective even in conditions of rain, low temperatures or high solar radiation, and can be used as a universal tool for farm management. Patricio Fitz Simon,BASF's new director of Agriculture in Spain, said: "Thank you to all theteams worldwide for bringing our Revyona® fungicide to market." He alsohighlighted BASF's efforts, dedication and investment in providing innovativesolutions that are truly responsive to the needs of grape and fruit cropgrowers.
