Sumitomo Dye Japan to stop production in 2021
Due to cost and profit impact, Sumitomo Dyes Japan will stop production in April 2021, including the reactive Sumifix series and the disperse Sumikaron series.
Sumitomo Chemical Japan originated from a fertilizer manufacturing plant established in September 1913 in Shinjuhama, Ehime Prefecture, and was renamed Sumitomo Chemical Industries, Ltd. in 1934. It entered the dyestuff field by merging with Nippon Dye Manufacturing Co. in 1944, and was once one of the six largest dyestuff companies in Japan, and its production ranked among the top six dye companies in Japan.
Sumitomo dyestuffs are mainly used in the market in two series: Sumifix, a reactive vector, and Sumikaron, a disperse vector. If the main Sumitomo dyestuff in Japan is discontinued, the printing and dyeing factories will need to find a substitute immediately and soon the Japanese Sumitomo dyestuff will not be seen in the market.
