Daio Paper develops CNF high-concentration composite resin

Recently, Japan's Daio Paper Co., Ltd. announced that the company has successfully developed a cellulose nanofiber (CNF) composite resin with a cellulose concentration of 55%. The CNF high-concentration composite resin "ELLEX-R55" developed by the company has recently begun to provide samples. It is reported that "ELLEX-R55" can dilute CNF to the concentration required for performance according to the needs of users for resin molding processing. For example, even if CNF is diluted to about 10%, its bending properties can be improved (CNF is 10%, and its bending elastic modulus is 1.7 times), and the thickness of the material can be reduced. Therefore, as the resin material is reduced, the weight reduction goal of plastic can also be achieved.

In the process of developing CNF high-concentration composite resin, Dawang Paper also paid attention to efforts to reduce costs in order to facilitate the commercialization of CNF. At present, the company provides pellets that can be processed into easy-to-shape through the Mishima factory to reduce manufacturing and logistics costs. In addition, the company has also cooperated with Shibaura Machinery to develop a CNF pretreatment process and significantly increase the productivity of composite resins. This development project has been adopted by the "Nanofiber-related technology development for a carbon recycling society" project of the New Energy Industry Comprehensive Technology Development Organization (NEDO). Dawang Paper stated that it will further accelerate the commercialization of CNF.
