Invest $15 million! PPG announces expansion
PPG announced the completion of a $15 million investment to enhance its powder coating manufacturing facility in Brazil, Indiana.
It is understood that the facility, which serves customers in the home appliance and general industrial manufacturing sectors and employs 90 people, has invested in a 20,000 sq ft expansion to accommodate two state-of-the-art bonded metal powder production lines and automated packaging capabilities. This upgrade will enhance PPG's ability to serve powder customers through better product and process quality control, while reducing lead times for color matching and production.
"Powders are the fastest growing coatings technology in the world and we are committed to meeting this growing demand through research and development, acquisitions and investments to enhance our capabilities and expand our global footprint," said Marizeth Carvalho, PPG's Global Business Director for Powders and Coatings and General Manager for Latin America South.
Powder coatings are usually formulated without solvents that emit volatile organic compounds (VOC) and can be recycled and reused throughout the application. A focus on powder coatings enables PPG and its customers to achieve sustainable Development Goals. The Brazil plant expansion project is part of PPG's strategic efforts to expand its powder coating products and increase production to meet growing customer demand. With this expansion, PPG plans to add 12 new jobs at the facility.
