According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on June 9, in May, the overall downward trend of international commodity prices, the overall weak demand for industrial products at home and abroad, and the high comparison base in the same period last year, the PPI (producer price index) continued to decline month-on-month and year-on-year. Among them, the price of chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry fell 2.0%, down 12.2% year on year.

 

On a month-on-month basis, the PPI fell 0.9 percent, 0.4 percentage points larger than the previous month. Prices of means of production fell by 1.2 percent, or 0.6 percentage points. The price of living materials fell 0.2 percent, narrowing the decline by 0.1 percentage point. The international prices of crude oil and major non-ferrous metals declined, which led to the decline in the prices of relevant domestic industries. Among them, the price of oil and natural gas extraction industry fell by 2.1%, and the price of chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry fell by 2.0%; Nonferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry prices fell 1.1 percent. The overall supply of coal, steel, cement and other industries was sufficient, but the demand was weak, and prices fell. Among them, the price of coal mining and washing decreased by 5.2%, the price of black metal smelting and rolling processing decreased by 4.2%, and the price of non-metallic mineral products decreased by 0.9%. Prices in equipment manufacturing industries edged down, with prices in electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industries down 0.5 percent, those in computer communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing industries down 0.3 percent, and those in automobile manufacturing industries down 0.2 percent. In addition, the price of cultural, educational, industrial, American, sports and entertainment goods manufacturing industry rose 0.5 percent, and the price of electricity and heat production and supply industry rose 0.1 percent.

 

On a year-on-year basis, the PPI fell 4.6 percent, 1.0 percentage point larger than the previous month. Prices of means of production fell by 5.9 percent, or 1.2 percentage points. The price of living goods fell 0.1 percent from a 0.4 percent increase in the previous month. Of the 40 industrial sectors surveyed, 26 showed price declines, up three from the previous month. Among the major industries, the price of oil and natural gas exploration fell by 19.1 percent, an increase of 2.8 percentage points; Ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry prices fell by 16.8 percent, a drop of 3.2 percentage points; The prices of petroleum, coal and other fuel processing industries fell by 15.1 percent, or 3.7 percentage points. The price of coal mining and washing fell by 13.1 percent, or 3.8 percentage points; Prices of non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industries fell 8.4 percent, or 0.2 percentage points. Car manufacturing prices fell 1.1 per cent. In addition, the price of cultural, educational, industrial, American, sports and recreational goods manufacturing industry increased by 4.5%, the price of electricity and heat production and supply industry increased by 1.6%, and the price of textile and apparel industry increased by 1.0%.

 

Among the purchase prices of industrial producers, the prices of ferrous metal materials decreased by 11.1% year-on-year and 2.2% month-on-month. The price of chemical raw materials decreased by 10.6% year-on-year and by 2% month-on-month; Fuel power prices fell 7.6 percent year on year and 1.3 percent month on month.

 

From January to May, the producer's ex-factory price fell by 2.6 percent and the producer's purchasing price fell by 2.3 percent from the same period last year. Among them, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing prices fell 8.2% year on year.
