600,000 Tons/Year! Ineos Ningbo Factory Opens!

On November 21, Ineos Styrolution announced the official opening of its new large-scale ABS factory in Ningbo, China. The plant is a joint venture with Sinopec Group and has an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons. The plant uses Ineos Styrolution’s technology.

The 600,000-ton ABS project of Sinopec-Ineos Styrolution High-Tech Materials (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. started construction at the end of 2020, covering an area of 400 acres, with more than 360 employees and contractors. It provides high-end ABS series materials for Chinese market and promotes many industries including the design and functional development of automobiles, electronics, home appliances, construction, medical care, toys, sports, and leisure.

On August 30, Ineos and Sinopec signed a shareholders' agreement to jointly build a 300,000 tons/year ABS device in the Tianjin Nangang ethylene project cluster on a 50%:50% share ratio. The device uses INEOS's leading Terluran® ABS technology, is being constructed by Sinopec, and is scheduled to be put into operation in April 2025. This project is the second ABS device in the joint venture between Ineos and Sinopec announced last year. Both are managed and operated by the joint venture company established by Ineos and Sinopec. The first device is located in Ningbo and is a 600,000 tons/year ABS device. The location of the third ABS unit has not yet been determined.

On August 2, Sinopec and Ineos officially signed a cooperation agreement. The two parties established Sinopec Ineos (Tianjin) Petrochemical Co., Ltd. with a 50%:50% share ratio to jointly operate the 1.2 million tons/year Tianjin Nangang Ethylene Project that under built by Sinopec. The project is scheduled to be put into commercial operation in April 2024.

On December 28, 2022, Sinopec announced that it and Ineos Group officially completed the delivery of two chemical cooperation projects, in accordance with the previously announced cooperation plan, the two sides will set up joint ventures at a 50:50 share ratio, respectively, to operate Shanghai Secco Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Sinopec Ineos Benzene (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. to jointly explore Chinese chemical market.
