In January, the China Institute for Food and Drug Control issued a "Notice on Soliciting Opinions on the Catalogue of Prohibited Cosmetics." Another batch of 17 raw materials has been on the blacklist of supervision. The one-month solicitation period has passed, and the revision of the "Prohibited Catalog" is also nailed down.

17 new banned ingredients for cosmetics

3-benzylidene Camphor, new lily aldehyde, TAGETES ERECTA extract, TAGETES ERECTA oil, 2-chloro-p-phenylenediamine, 2-chloro-p-phenylenediamine sulfate, Boric Acid, boron Acid salts, tetraborate and other borates and esters, sodium perborate, FORMALDEHYDE, paraformaldehyde, dichloromethane, etc.

Most of the raw materials do not appear frequently in current cosmetics. 3-benzylidene camphor is an old-fashioned sunscreen; new lilyal is also an allergenic fragrance that has long been banned by the European Union; 2-chloro-p-phenylenediamine (and its salts) is a p-phenylenediamine hair dye , Has high allergenicity, and has also been banned by the European Union.

However, there are still some raw materials that appear in domestically marketed products, such as boric acid and its analogs, which occupy a small portion of the page, as well as marigold flower extract and marigold flower oil.

Marigold flower extract/oil has been banned from the EU in cosmetics in 2019.

After years of see-saw, the EU finally completely banned the addition of marigold flower extract/oil in cosmetics (especially sunscreen) in 2019.
