PPG Paints China Zhangjiagang Factory Expands Capacity to Produce 40,000 Tons of Water-Based Primer Annually
On December 20, the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone announced the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment for PPG Paints (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd.'s annual capacity expansion project of 40,000 tons of water-based primer.

Construction location: Within the existing factory area of PPG Paints (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd.
Construction content: The project stated that it will expand the annual production capacity of water-based primers to 50,000 tons on the existing east side plot. After the project is completed, it will reach a production scale of 90,000 tons of water-based primers per year.
Project investment: 4.108 million yuan
The product plan of the entire plant after the expansion: after completion, the production capacity of water-based primer will reach 90,000 tons, as well as 156,500 tons of high-performance coatings, 71,500 tons of water-based epoxy resin and other products.
PPG Paints Zhangjiagang Factory is located in the Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park. It is PPG's only resin production base in China. It was established in October 2005 by PPG Paints (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. The first and second phases of the factory have a total investment of US$112 million and cover an area of approximately 159.7 acres. They mainly produce high-performance coatings, water-based resins, adhesives and other products, with an annual production capacity of 135,000 tons.
In October 2023, the factory (Phase III) was officially put into operation, with an estimated annual production capacity of 80,000 tons, including an annual output of 40,000 tons of packaging coatings and 40,000 tons of industrial coatings. By introducing advanced product technology and production equipment, the company customize coating products for customers, improve product quality and production efficiency, and reduce operating costs.
