Celanese will expand the composite capacity of engineered materials in Asian factories
On March 25, 2021, Celanese Corporation, a global chemical and specialty materials company, announced that it intends to launch a three-year plan to expand the company’s engineering material compounding capabilities in its Asian plants, including Nanjing, China. , Suzhou and Silvassa, India.
In order to support the expected significant business growth, Celanese has begun planning the following expansion investments in Asia:
Expansion of composite materials and LFT in Nanjing, China: By the second half of 2023, the expected scope of the project will increase the company’s composite and long-fiber thermoplastic (LFT) production capacity at its Nanjing Integrated Chemical Plant by approximately 52KT.
China's Suzhou Nylon Production Expansion: By the second quarter of 2022, the expected scope of the project will enable the company's Suzhou plant to increase its nylon mixing capacity by approximately 7KT.
Expansion of compound business in India: By the first quarter of 2022, the expected scope of the project will increase the annual compound capacity of the company's Silvassa plant in India by approximately 7KT.
Celanese Engineered Materials Senior Vice President Tom Kelly said: “By continuing to expand our Asian business in the engineered materials market, Celanese is adapting to the needs of local customers and gaining a competitive advantage in a complex and ever-changing environment.” Celanese is committed to expanding its leadership position in the region by increasing its investment and growth in the Asian network to increase the production capacity of composite materials and polymers."
The financial details of the composite expansion of these engineering materials have not yet been made public. With further development, more project details will be announced.
