ECHEMI 2021-03-31

The new production line completes the existing equipment and can be used to produce high-end Acronal® EDGE, Acronal® PLUS, Joncryl® and new generation Acronal® ECO dispersions

· New capacity will focus on serving the ASEAN (ASEAN) and Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) markets

· The construction was successfully completed during the COVID-19 pandemic, with strict implementation of health and safety guidelines and zero loss of working hours

Recently, BASF's new acrylic dispersion production line in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia, was officially put into operation, doubling its production capacity. This technologically advanced device will supply acrylic dispersions to the coatings, construction, adhesives and packaging industries in the Asia-Pacific region.

The new production line completes the existing equipment and adopts the latest dispersion technology to produce Acronal® EDGE, Acronal® PLUS, Joncryl® and a new generation of Acronal® ECO series products. BASF strives to build an environmentally friendly production system. The production line uses condensate stripping and recycling technology to reduce fresh water consumption and waste water production.

The Pasir Gudang production base is located in the multi-functional and comprehensive Johor Free Trade Zone, which is a strategically important export location in the region. Peter van der Zwan, Director of Dispersions and Resins at BASF ASEAN and ANZ, said: “Adjacent to three world-class ports, the expanded base will become the main production base for our customers in Malaysia, Singapore and other ASEAN countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand. The production line was put into operation in March this year."

Jeff Knight, Senior Vice President, Dispersions and Resins, BASF Asia Pacific, said: "In order to cope with the growth of BASF's business, we will continue to strengthen the production facilities and R&D capabilities of polymer dispersions in the entire Asia Pacific region. The new production line will help. To seize opportunities in our fast-growing emerging markets, while improving the stability of our supply to customers in ASEAN and Australia and New Zealand."

BASF Malaysia's Pasir Gudang (Pasir Gudang)'s first acrylic dispersion production line was put into operation in 2015.
