EFSA Evaluates Maximum Residue Levels of Aluminum and Magnesium Phosphide in Peanuts, Barley, and Oats
On January 9, 2024, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) released an assessment report confirming the data on aluminum and magnesium phosphide residues in peanuts, barley, oats, and other commodities. The evaluation concluded that, based on reported agricultural practices, the short-term and long-term intake of residues resulting from the use of aluminum and magnesium phosphide is unlikely to pose a risk to consumer health. The EFSA report stated that there is no significant risk associated with the reported levels of phosphide residues in these commodities.
