Six Dow Products Win 2024 BIG Innovation Awards
According to news from Dow on January 10, 2024, the company won six major innovation awards from Business Intelligence Group™ in 2024, which is the largest award received by Dow Chemical in one year. This achievement also marks the eighth consecutive year that Dow has been recognized with the BIG Innovation Awards.
AN Sreeram, chief technology officer and senior vice president of R&D at Dow Chemical said, the engineering and scientific rigor of Dow teams consistently delivers creative solutions to global challenges while delivering better product performance and sustainability, The company is proud to receive this recognition for the eighth consecutive year.
Dow products were recognized in the Chemical and Manufacturing subcategories. Award-winning product information:
EcoSense™ 2470 Surfactant:
EcoSense™ 2470 surfactant offers detergent manufacturers the opportunity to be part of the sustainable ecosystem of the future. Recycled carbon materials combine high performance with cutting-edge climate technology to deliver quality and environmental benefits for a variety of home care products, including laundry detergent and hard surface cleaners. Adopters will benefit from this drop-in replacement solution that does not compromise the performance of traditional fossil-based surfactants, enabling a new circular carbon economy. Home care products can now take advantage of a novel carbon capture-based method to produce surfactants.
SYL-OFF™ 7920NF Emulsion Coating:
SYL-OFF™ 7920NF Emulsion Coating is an advanced solution for superior mold release from pressure-sensitive adhesives. The coating is water-resistant, tough and durable, with non-migrating, non-stick properties and excellent shear stability. With SYL-OFF™ 7920NF emulsion coating, users can experience unparalleled low foaming potential and extended bath life in product applications.
ELECPURE™ Electronic Grade Solvents:
In electronic device manufacturing, ultrapure chemicals like ELECPURE™ electronic grade solvents play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and efficiency of electronic materials. ELECPURE™ electronic grade solvents are developed using an innovative and energy-efficient purification process that removes over 30 metal ions to parts per trillion levels. Dow's purification process uses 90% less energy than traditional methods, reducing Scope 1 carbon emissions. The impact is clear: improved manufacturing efficiency, longer equipment life and overall superior performance.
Dow's innovative ELECPURE™ electronic grade solvents are used in photoresists, color photoresists, thinners and photoresist removers for a variety of other challenging applications in semiconductor, display panel and throughout industry manufacturing processes. ELECPURE™ electronic grade solvents increase throughput, equipment performance and support next-generation equipment. These materials align with Dow's sustainability goals and are recognized for their superior performance.
DOWSIL™ 2080 Resin:
DOWSIL™ 2080 Resin is a solvent-free liquid silicone resin that chemically reacts with organic resins to form silicone-organic copolymers. Its unique structure and low self-condensation tendency make it suitable for solvent-free processes, producing solid silicone-organic copolymers. These copolymers serve as high-quality binders for heat-resistant powder coatings, improving their appearance. Unlike traditional coatings that mix flake silicone resins with solid organic resins, DOWSIL™ 2080 Resin overcomes incompatibility issues. When used as a binder, it forms high-quality coatings with excellent leveling, gloss and maintained heat resistance.
RHOBARR™ 135 Barrier Coating:
RHOBARR™ 135 Barrier Coating is a water-based latex designed for paper and board coatings in food packaging applications. This versatile emulsion is compatible with existing water-based coating or printing methods and is suitable for high-temperature applications such as ovens and microwaves. RHOBARR™ 135 provides excellent thermal oil, grease and fatty acid barrier properties, block resistance and film flexibility to maintain performance after folding. RHOBARR™ 135 is produced without intentionally added fluorocarbons, providing users with a certified repulpable and recyclable solution to meet market demands for safer, more sustainable oil and grease resistant food packaging.
DOWSIL™ TC-6032 Thermal Conductive Encapsulant:
DOWSIL™ TC-6032 Thermal Conductive Encapsulant is a 1:1 ratio two-part product that is a versatile, flowable solution designed for efficient heat dissipation of electronic and electrical components. Its fluidity allows for easy filling and self-leveling after dispensing. Composed of thermally conductive fillers and polydimethylsiloxane, this heat-curable sealant is ideal for a variety of applications, including on-board chargers, inverters, converters, transformers and other sensitive components that require effective thermal management.
