BYK Invests Millions of Euros in Solvent-Based Wax Plant
BYK, a global supplier of specialty chemicals, held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new factory in Deventer, the Netherlands, on January 11, 2024.
The new production facility will produce solvent-based wax dispersions and replace the existing facility with a state-of-the-art process unit that will meet the current and future needs of customers and comply with current and future regulatory requirements. BYK is investing millions of euros in the plant.
"This significant investment in our solvent-based wax business demonstrates our commitment to our key customers who have growing demand for these specialty products. With this investment, we are well-positioned to continue to be a partner to our global customer base." said Dr. Jorg Hinnerwisch, President of the BYK Chemicals Division.
"Everything we have learned over the past 50 years about producing wax dispersions has been transferred to the project and construction teams. The new facility ensures we continue to provide a safe and ergonomic workplace for our employees to remain reliable, sustainable development." said Steef Bouwmeester, managing director of BYK Netherlands B.V.
Solvent-based wax dispersions are used by can and roll stock manufacturers, automotive coatings producers, printing inks, wood and industrial coatings customers worldwide. The new factory is scheduled to start commercial production by the end of 2026.
