Manzanita Capital Acquires Majority Stake in DS & Durga
Manzanita Capital has acquired a majority stake in luxury fragrance brand DS & Durga. The private equity firm's investment will be used to expand DS & Durga's retail operations, product offerings and team in the United States. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
DS & Durga was co-founded in 2009 by David and Kavi Moltz in Brooklyn, New York. The fragrance company is known for its niche fragrances and interesting brands. It has three stores in New York and one in Los Angeles.
Following the acquisition, David and Kavi will continue in their leadership roles to lead the brand into its next phase of growth.
"Manzanita is very skilled in retail and other aspects, and their extensive knowledge in building fragrance businesses will help spread our unique way of thinking about fragrance," David said.
Private equity firm Monogram Capital, which invested in DS & Durga in 2018, will remain a minority shareholder.
Manzanita Capital is no stranger to the world of fragrance, having previously invested in fragrance brand Byredo, which it sold to Puig in 2022. The company also owns luxury fragrance companies Diptyque and Malin+Goetz.
