Perstorp opens new Penta factory in India

Sweden-based specialty chemicals company Perstorp has constructed and commissioned a new ISCC Plus certified plant in western India to meet the growing market demand for Penta (pentaerythritol) chemicals. The facility is located in Sayaha, Bharuch, Gujarat and was officially inaugurated on February 20.

"This is Perstorp's largest investment in Asia to date. It will further strengthen Perstorp's position as a sustainable and reliable partner in the Asia region." commented Gorm Jensen, Executive Vice President of Business and Innovation at Perstorp.

"The factory will increase product availability and reliability for existing and new customers, reducing delivery times by approximately 50% for customers in Asia. The factory is strategically located close to ports, rail and roads, which will help ensure Perstorp can efficiently supply products throughout India and Asia as a whole. At the same time, the factory also has the advantage of exporting products to the world. "

Perstorp will produce the Penta product portfolio, which includes Perstorp's renewable energy, ISCC PLUS certified grade Voxtar, as well as Penta Mono and calcium formate. The plant will use renewable raw materials as well as a mix of electricity. Voxtar is chemically identical to Penta, providing customers with the same quality and performance as fossil products.

Perstorp already produces Penta in Sweden, Germany and the United States, but the investment will represent a significant expansion of its global production capacity. At the new plant, Perstorp will produce 40,000 tons of pentaerythritol and 26,000 tons of calcium formate per year.
