Perstorp Starts Ester Production at Amsterdam Plant

Perstorp has announced that it has started ester production at its Amsterdam plant and has tested several batches of various ester products. Once the quality is approved by customers, the plant will start to scale up production.

The acquisition of the Amsterdam plant is the first step for Perstorp to grow its synthetic ester business and consolidate its position in the engineered fluids market. Since the acquisition, the company has made a lot of preparations for the start of production. Currently, the delivery of the first test batch of ester products marks the official start of production at the plant.

"After several months of preparation, the Amsterdam ester plant resumed production in mid-March. The first products were completed and approved on March 20th." said Joost Overeijnder, Amsterdam plant manager.

Before Perstorp acquired the Amsterdam plant, the plant had produced esters for various applications, such as automotive and refrigeration lubricants, plasticizers, and even some esters for cosmetics. The plant uses a batch production mode, which is highly flexible and can meet various customer specifications. Today, the successful start-up of the plant is an important milestone, and once the quality is certified, the plant will start to fully increase production.

Overeijnder added: “The team is very pleased to have restarted production and is eager to continue production as demand grows. The next step is to produce additional ester products to support growth in the Engineered Fluids business. These results will be published next week.”
