Economic operation data of China's coatings industry in 2023 released
On February 26, the China Coatings Industry Association released the economic operation data of China's coatings and pigments industry in 2023.
According to preliminary statistics from the association, in 2023, the total output of China's coatings industry was 35.772 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%; the import volume was 153,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 20.4%; the export volume was 262,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.6%; apparent consumption was 35.663 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%; main business income was 404.48 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 4.5%; total profit was 23.74 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%.
In terms of pigments, in 2023, China's total annual titanium dioxide production capacity was 5.642 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%; the total output was 4.223 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.0%; the import volume was 84,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.1%, and the export volume was 1.642 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.7%; apparent consumption was 2.666 million tons, an increase of 1.5% year-on-year.
Compared with titanium dioxide, the production capacity and consumption of iron oxide pigments have decreased. In 2023, the total annual production capacity of iron oxide pigments is 700,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 12.5%; the total output is 589,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 7.5%; the import volume is 157,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 7.3%; the export volume is 279,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 21.5% ; apparent consumption was 467,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.55%.
