This week, China's acetone market continues to weaken
November 21, news
The Chinese acetone market has shown a weak downward trend, with no significant fluctuations in the market fundamentals. Traders are mainly focusing on promoting sales, while downstream demand is following up as needed, and the overall market activity remains limited. According to monitoring data, the acetone market in East China reported an average price of 4,200 CNY/ton on November 14th, which decreased to 4,163 CNY/ton by November 21st, representing a price decrease of 0.87%.
From the supply perspective, the overall facility utilization rate of phenol and acetone in China has increased, mainly due to the operation of the phenol and acetone units at Fuyu Petrochemical and the first phase of Zhejiang Petrochemical. The overall operating rate has increased to 80%. In terms of ports, shipments arrived as planned, and port inventory increased to 26,000 tons. The market supply is relatively abundant, and traders have a strong intention to sell. After maintaining prices for the first half of the week, offers started to decline.
From the demand side, the market is still in a low position, with terminal factories and traders entering the market to replenish stocks. There is an expectation of increased facility utilization rates for downstream bisphenol A, which will increase the demand for acetone; the operating loads for isopropanol, MMA, and MIBK have slightly changed, leading to little change in the demand for acetone. From the cost perspective, the supply and demand for raw material benzene have both slightly increased, continuing a situation where supply is less than demand, and it is expected that short-term prices will remain strong.
November 21st, the acetone quotations in major mainstream markets across China are as follows:
