Mitsubishi Chemical increases sugar ester emulsifier production capacity

Mitsubishi Chemical Group (MCG) will add a new 1,100 ton/year production line to expand its sugar ester emulsifier production capacity based on the 2,000 ton capacity production unit planned to be fully put into operation in March 2024.

Helping Mitsubishi Chemical's Kyushu plant meet global demand for high-quality food, construction of the new line began in January 2024 and is scheduled to begin operations in March 2026.

The 2,000-ton/year sugar ester production unit is planned to be fully operational in March 2024; Mitsubishi Chemical's Kyushu plant will add a new production line with an annual output of 1,100 tons in March 2026.

Sugar esters are emulsifiers made primarily from sucrose and fatty acids derived from vegetable oils and fats. Its function is to uniformly mix water and oil, helping to maintain quality during food processing, distribution and storage, and is used in a variety of food products.

In order to meet stable domestic demand, growing overseas demand from China and other countries, and BCP demand, MCG plans to begin full operation of the 2,000 tons/year production facility at the Kyushu plant in March 2024 to supplement the production facilities at the Tokai plant.

MCG is also considering setting up sales offices in various locations this spring to strengthen its marketing structure in Europe, the United States and Southeast Asia, and has begun to improve the texture and taste of its products and design products to meet customer needs.
