Mitsubishi Chemical Exits the Manufacturing of Polyester Resins for Printer Toners
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) has decided to exit the manufacturing of polyester resins for printer toners.
The company has been engaged in the business since 1989. However, profitability in this business is currently under significant pressure due to declining demand for printing resulting from the transition to paperless operations and changes in work styles following the COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with recent sharp increases in raw material prices and labor costs.
Faced with these challenges, MCC implemented a series of measures, such as streamlining operations and reducing fixed costs. However, after a thorough assessment of the surrounding business environment, MCC has decided to exit this business due to limited prospects for improving profitability or future growth.
