DIC opens coating resin for automotive & application laboratory
DIC announced that two of its subsidiaries in India, DIC South Asia Private Limited in Mumbai and IDEAL CHEMI PLAST in Bhadrapur, have jointly established the DIC South Asia Private Limited Applications Lab, a dedicated site for the evaluation of coating resins for automotive coatings & infrastructure applications. The new facility opens in February 2024.
DIC sees the Indian coating resin market, currently growing at around 9% per year, as particularly promising. The company is working to expand its operations in the country, including establishing a second production site at IDEAL CHEMI PLAST. Its acquisition was completed in 2019 and production at the new factory will begin in February 2024. DIC decided to establish an application laboratory with the aim of enabling it to respond quickly to local customer needs and propose comprehensive solutions, including recommending and supplying resin, also providing compound formulations and processing samples.
The application laboratory, as an open laboratory, is jointly managed by DIC South Asia, which provides the equipment, and IDEAL CHEMI PLAST, which manages the part of the industrial estate where the facility is located.
DIC expects its coating resin customers in India to actively utilize this new open laboratory in the future. In addition, the laboratory will help DIC further improve the services it provides in the Indian market.
