LyondellBasell and Polynt Advance Low-Carbon Marine Resins
LyondellBasell (LYB), a global chemical leader, is expanding its long-term collaboration with Polynt, a specialist in specialty polymers and intermediates, to develop high-performance marine resins using LYB’s Styrene +LC (low carbon) solution.
Produced via a mass balance approach and certified under the ISCC PLUS system, LYB’s +LC solutions are derived from bio-circular feedstocks. These materials help reduce scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions without compromising quality or performance.
“Our +LC products offer a lower carbon footprint compared to fossil-based equivalents, supporting partners like Polynt in achieving their sustainability targets,” said Francesca Faranda, Senior Account Manager at LYB.
Polynt is leveraging LYB Styrene +LC to manufacture advanced resins for boats and yachts, combining high strength and durability with a significantly reduced carbon impact—addressing growing sustainability demands in the marine industry.
“Sustainability is central to our strategy,” said Maurizio Leonardi, Executive Vice President Europe at Polynt. “Through innovation in eco-design and circular manufacturing, and close collaboration with LYB and other stakeholders, we are driving sustainable growth and reinforcing our leadership in thermosetting composites.”
