Arkema's Oleris C7 and C11 oleochemicals awarded USDA BioPreferred product label

Arkema's range of advanced biomaterials, made from renewable castor seeds, have been independently analyzed and certified as being made from biochar (carbon dioxide from the atmosphere) and are now allowed to carry USDA (US Department of Agriculture) BioPreferred Label. The following grades meet the requirements for the 100% Isolated Biobased Certified Label: Oleris Enanthate, Oleris Heptanol, Oleris Heptanal, Oleris Undecylenic Acid. 

Arkema produces these bio-based oleochemicals in Marseille, France, and Singapore and markets them globally for a variety of applications, including lubricants, cosmetics, personal care, and flavors and fragrances.

Made from renewable castor seeds, they do not compete with food, do not contribute to deforestation, and are carbon negative, consuming more atmospheric carbon dioxide in growing the crops than are emitted in CO2 equivalents during manufacturing.

The certification is awarded after third-party verification of biobased content managed through the USDA BioPreferred program, which is dedicated to increasing the development, purchase and use of biobased products. Bio-based products help combat climate change by providing renewable alternatives to petroleum-based products and sequester carbon dioxide, reducing concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

The USDA Certified Biobased product label shows the product's biobased content, which is the portion of the product that comes from renewable sources, such as plant, animal, marine or forestry ingredients. Utilizing renewable bio-based materials replaces the need for non-renewable petroleum-based chemicals.
