Artience Group to increase adhesive production capacity 3.5 times
Toyo Ink India, a unit of Japanese chemicals manufacturer Artience Group (formerly Toyo Ink Group), has announced plans to expand solvent-based adhesive production capacity at its production base in the Indian state of Gujarat. As part of the expansion, the Gujarat plant will build a new production facility to meet growing local demand. The plant, expected to start operations by April 2026, will help increase the adhesive production capacity of the Gujarat plant to 3.5 times the current output.
In 2014, Toyo Ink India began importing adhesives from Japan and selling them into the local automotive interior market, and over the years has expanded its application to include home appliances and labels. In December 2021, a production base was established in Gujarat, India, allowing the company to respond more quickly to customer needs and further develop its business. As demand in these markets grew, adhesive production capacity became stretched, leading to the decision to invest further in production to support current and future growth.
Demand for industrial adhesives in India is expected to increase on account of rising new vehicle sales due to urbanization and shift towards nuclear households, as well as rapid growth in the consumer electronics market.
Naotoshi Nakamura, Chairman of Toyo Ink India, said: "Toyo Ink India is expected to become the largest solvent-based adhesive manufacturer in India, targeting a market share of 30% by 2026. We are working to expand adhesive applications into healthcare and other sectors while positioning India as an export hub in the Middle East and Africa, which are expected to see economic growth in the future.
