Updated Residual Limits of Cyclaniliprole in Cucurbitaceous Vegetables in the United States

ECHEMI 2024-04-24

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently announced regulatory revisions regarding the residual limits of Cyclaniliprole, a pesticide, in cucurbitaceous vegetables. The amendments aim to ensure food safety and protect consumer health.

According to the official release published in the Federal Register on April 23, 2024, the EPA, after conducting comprehensive risk assessments on Cyclaniliprole, has concluded that the following residual limits are safe for cucurbitaceous vegetables:

  • Cucurbitaceous Vegetables, Crop Group 9: 0.3 parts per million (ppm)

These revised residual limits are based on considerations of toxicity, dietary exposure, and potential impacts on infants and young children. The EPA's risk assessment ensures that the updated limits maintain a high level of consumer protection.

Implementation of the revised limits is set to commence on April 23, 2024. Those who oppose or wish to request a hearing regarding the amendments must submit their concerns before June 24, 2024.

The United States EPA has made significant revisions to the residual limits of Cyclaniliprole in cucurbitaceous vegetables, aiming to enhance food safety standards. The updated limits, which become effective in April 2024, have been determined to be safe based on thorough risk assessments. These regulatory measures reflect the commitment of the EPA to safeguarding consumer health by ensuring the safety of agricultural products in the United States.
