Revised Maximum Residue Limit of Tricyclazole in Rice in the United Kingdom
In a recent announcement, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in the United Kingdom has proposed a revision to the maximum residue limit (MRL) of tricyclazole in rice. This regulatory update aims to ensure the safety and quality of rice products in the country.
Tricyclazole is an agricultural fungicide commonly used in rice cultivation to control diseases caused by fungal pathogens. However, concerns have been raised regarding its potential adverse effects on human health due to its residues in rice. In response to these concerns, the HSE has undertaken the task of revising the MRL of tricyclazole in rice.
The proposed revised MRLs for tricyclazole in rice are as follows:
- Current MRL: 0.01 mg/kg
- Proposed MRL: 0.09 mg/kg
The revision signifies a significant increase in the permissible limit of tricyclazole residues in rice. This adjustment takes into account the latest scientific knowledge and risk assessment data to strike a balance between consumer safety and sustainable rice production.
