August 14th News

I. Price Trends

According to the commodity market analysis system, the Aniline market in China continued to rise this week. The price of Aniline was 11,525 CNY per ton on August 10 and reached 11,925 CNY per ton on August 14, increasing by 3.47% within the week and rising by 57.96% compared to the same period last year.

II. Analysis and Commentary

During the week, multiple Aniline plants underwent maintenance and experienced fluctuations in operations, leading to a continuous tightening of supply. Factories raised their quotes twice, with tight supply and inventory levels dropping to low levels, causing traders to sell at higher prices. By this Friday, the mainstream quotation for Aniline in China was 11,900-12,000 CNY per ton.

Cost aspect: The pure benzene market is showing a strong fluctuation. Due to the impact of typhoons, the unloading of pure benzene shipments has been delayed, and the inventory in the main ports of Jiangsu continues to decline. Additionally, the restart times for some pure benzene facilities have been postponed, leading to lower-than-expected production recovery. As a result, the negotiation focus for pure benzene has increased. Some downstream products continue to show negative demand feedback, and the overall load in the downstream sector remains low. Overall, although the increase in supply is slightly below expectations, the demand side is still weak, limiting the room for a rebound in pure benzene prices.

3. Future Market Expectations

Currently, aniline prices have surged to high levels. The market is absorbing the price increase, and under high costs, downstream buyers are becoming less active, with demand driven primarily by essential needs. It is expected that in the short term, aniline prices will face significant resistance to further increases. We should closely monitor developments on both the cost and demand sides.
