Revised Residual Limits of Cyflumetofen in Selected Foods in the United States

In a recent development, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the revision of residual limits for Cyflumetofen in certain food items. This regulatory update, published under regulation number 2024-10187 in the Federal Register on May 10, 2024, aims to ensure food safety and protect consumer health. 

Cyflumetofen is a chemical compound commonly used as a pesticide in agricultural practices. The EPA has conducted a comprehensive risk assessment, considering factors such as toxicity, dietary exposure, and potential impacts on infants and young children. Based on their evaluation, the EPA has determined that the following revised residual limits for Cyflumetofen in specific food items are deemed safe:

• Lowbush berries, subgroup 13-07G: 0.6 parts per million (ppm)
• Minor vine climbing fruits (excluding fuzzy kiwifruit), subgroup 13-07F: 0.6 ppm
• Gourd vegetables, group 9: 0.3 ppm

These revised limits will come into effect starting from May 10, 2024. Stakeholders who wish to express opposition or request a hearing regarding this amendment must submit their concerns by July 9, 2024.
