MoonBiotech and Syngenta signed a cooperation agreement to launch a new phase of cooperation in the development of transgenic traits
Recently, MoonBiotech and Syngenta Group signed a cooperation agreement to explore new insecticidal and insect-resistant genes based on MoonBiotech's huge microbial strain resource library, growing genome sequence library and functional gene element library, providing a "gene engine" for the cultivation of excellent germplasm resources.
Following the signing of the project cooperation agreement in 2021, the two sides have once again increased capital investment, expanded the scale and quantity of research and development, and opened a new phase of the trait gene exploration project based on microbial diversity to speed up the cracking of the "genetic code" of the seed industry.
Seeds are the "chips" of agriculture and matter to national food security. At present, biological breeding technology has become the strategic focus of all countries in the world to seize the commanding heights of science and technology and enhance the international competitiveness of agriculture. China is the world's second largest seed demand country, the central document in 2023 for the first time to accelerate the pace of biological breeding commercialization, the central document again proposed in 2024: accelerate the revitalization of the seed industry, improve the joint research and development and application cooperation mechanism, increase the key core technology research, accelerate the selection and promotion of the production of urgently needed independent excellent varieties. Combined with Syngenta's advantages in trait development and precision breeding technology, transfer flux and speed of the domestic leading biological breeding traits rapid integration platform, to help the seed industry run out of the "China speed", enabling agricultural new quality productivity.
This cooperation is another milestone in the process of MoonBiotech accelerating the commercialization and industrialization of biological resources.
