TotalEnergies and OQ award Oman fully contained LNG contract to CB&I
McDermott's wholly owned, unrestricted subsidiary CB&I has been awarded a major contract by Marsa Liquefied Natural Gas, a joint venture between TotalEnergies and OQ, for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a fully containment concrete liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tank at Sohar Port, Oman.
Within the scope of the project, CB&I will provide turnkey EPC services for a 165,000 cubic meter full-volume concrete LNG storage tank and associated pipelines. Project delivery will be executed in Oman, where CB&I has been operating since 1968, and is supported by CB&I’s Dubai office.
Cesar Canals, CB&I President and CEO said:"Through this project, CB&I will contribute to the construction of one of the lowest greenhouse gas emission intensity LNG plants ever built, as well as Oman’s energy transition market. “It supports our ambition to build energy storage for projects that will help deliver reliable energy to the market while reducing environmental impact. It will also pave the way for similar energy storage opportunities in the future and continue our long history of execution excellence in the Middle East, particularly Oman."
Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024. The project is expected to be completed in 2028.
