Swiss speciality chemicals firm, Clariant, has revealed plans to expand the capacity of its ethylene oxide (EO) unit in Gendorf, Germany.

The company said the investment will boost efforts to develop innovative EO-based specialties to support a wide range of industries, such as personal and home care, crop solutions, and industrial applications. Financial details of the investment were not disclosed.

The expansion will enable higher production yields, greater process reliability and enhanced product quality, the company said and added that an increase of High Purified Ethylene Oxide (HPEO) is expected to be available from 2020.

“With this capacity increase of HPEO, Clariant will continue to expand its market driven innovative portfolio of EO-based specialties,” said Mr. João Tavares Correia, Head of the RBL EMEA region, Industrial & Consumer Specialties business unit at Clariant.
