The Chili Sauce Exported By China Has Been Found To Contain Excessive Levels Of Bacillus Cereus
Recently, according to the news released by the European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), on June 11, 2024, the Netherlands reported to the EU that a batch of chili sauce products exported from China had quality problems, and were deemed unqualified products. This event has attracted widespread attention from consumers and the industry, and also serves as a reminder that we must strictly control product quality in international trade and ensure food safety.
According to the notification content, the unqualified chili sauce products had excessive levels of Bacillus cereus, reaching an alarming 150,000 CFU/g. Bacillus cereus is a common food contaminant, and its excessive presence may pose potential health risks to humans. Therefore, the EU immediately took emergency measures, requiring the partial recall of the chili sauce products distributed to other member states and notifying the shipper and consignee to take appropriate measures to ensure that unqualified products do not circulate in the market. At the same time, the EU required the destruction of the unqualified products that had already been marketed to prevent harm to consumers.
It is reported that the unqualified chili sauce products have been distributed to several European countries, including Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Romania, and Sweden. These countries are important trade partners of our country, and this incident will undoubtedly have a certain negative impact on our export enterprises. Therefore, Food Partner Network reminds each export enterprise to strictly follow the requirements of the importing country when exporting products and ensure that product quality meets international standards.
At the same time, we should also realize that food safety is a global issue that needs joint efforts from all countries. In international trade, we should strengthen communication and cooperation to jointly formulate and implement strict food safety standards to ensure that consumers' health and rights are protected.
This incident also reminds us that it is crucial for food production enterprises to strengthen product quality control and food safety management. Enterprises should establish a complete quality management system, strictly monitor every link from raw material procurement, production process control to product inspection and packaging, to ensure that products meet relevant standards and requirements. In addition, enterprises should strengthen employee food safety training to raise their awareness and importance of food safety, and ensure that food safety management is effectively implemented.
In summary, the EU's announcement of the unqualified export of chili sauce from our country reminds us again that strict control over product quality and food safety must be exercised in international trade. We should strengthen cooperation and exchanges with the international community to jointly promote the formulation and implementation of food safety standards, providing consumers with safer and healthier food products. At the same time, enterprises should also strengthen their own quality management and food safety management to ensure that their products meet relevant standards and requirements, providing consumers with more quality products and services.
