sh-oligopeptide-1 in skin care products is a special substance because it is the first growth factor to enter the field of skin care and is also the most common growth factor. Stanley Cohen, an American biochemist, discovered EGF and won the Nobel Prize in 1986. As the Nobel Prize shows, this molecule is significant and powerful, directly stimulating epidermal cell proliferation.

sh-oligopeptide-1 (synthetic human epidermal growth factor, EGF, Sh-EGF) is a human epidermal growth factor extracted from Escherichia coli using bioengineering technology. It consists of 53 amino acids and has a molecular weight of 6200 Daltons. sh-oligopeptide-1 is one of the important growth factors in the human body. It can promote the growth of epidermal cells, nerve cells and organ tissue epithelial cells, and is an important ingredient in anti-wrinkle and anti-aging cosmetics.
sh-oligopeptide-1 in skin care has multiple effects, including stimulating the proliferation and migration of keratinocytes; promoting fibroblast activity; regulating hair growth; regulating the development of sebaceous glands and sweat glands; increasing hyaluronic acid (HA) production; and accelerating the wound healing process, making it attractive in skin care products. It can also increase collagen production, although there is no clear evidence. The success of sh-oligopeptide-1 as a therapeutic agent has led many in the beauty industry to apply its efficacy to anti-aging products.
However, many consumers are skeptical about the anti-aging beauty effects of this substance. Because wounds do not equal wrinkles; skin contours destroyed by the sun and time do not equal skin damaged by injury, and that's the problem. Although sh-oligopeptide-1 sounds like a magical ingredient that can restore us to a fresher, younger appearance every week or even every day, there is not enough research to prove its positive effects on mature skin. In fact, early tests have linked its use to psoriasis and skin irritation caused by overproduction of skin cells.
In summary, sh-oligopeptide-1 is helpful for accelerating skin healing, but it is controversial in terms of skin care and is believed to have side effects and some negative issues. Before sh-oligopeptide-1 in skin care is scientifically certified as safe and effective, it is recommended to choose safe, healthy and cost-effective skin care products.
